Mark Hughes has warned old club Manchester City that QPR’s survival is written in the stars. Rangers boss Sparky takes his relegation-threatened side back to the Etihad on Sunday with implications for both ends of the table. Leaders City will be looking for a win to seal their first Premier League crown, while Hughes’ Hoops know a point guarantees them survival. In fact, Rangers could even lose at City and still stay up IF Bolton fail to beat Stoke. Hughes was City boss for 18 months before the club’s Arab owners callously replaced him with Roberto Mancini in December 2009. Sparky said: “It would be just fantastic to go there and get something. They are going for the title and we’re trying to stay in the league. When I took over at QPR, I looked at the fixtures and that one lurked ominously in the distant future. It does feel a little bit fated for them and for us.”
Meanwhile, Metro reports Sir Alex is going head-to-head with Bayern Munich for the signature of Everton left-back Leighton Baines. It's claimed that, contrary to previous reports suggesting the defender could be available for a cut-price £5million, he would cost in the region of £15million.
The Daily Mail believes Tottenham are United's chief rivals for Crewe's 18-year-old midfield talent Nick Powell.
