BARI - The construction of a team, during the summer, also passes through the saloon doors of the transfer market. But quite frankly, those doors do not worry Gian Piero Gasperini. The coach spoke about them at the end of the 2011 edition of the TIM Trophy, won once again (their seventh) by the Nerazzurri.
"I'm looking at work for the team. I'm focused on this. I know one thing for certain: Inter know what to do. And it's not something they know as of today or yesterday, but from the beginning of this project. We know what to do if one thing or another happens. We all work together, on and off the pitch. Inter is composed of many important elements that together can give something more. Inter have the characteristics to be a solid team, regardless of who comes or goes. And all summer I've been hearing, in newspapers and on TV, Eto'o and Sneijder, Sneijder and Eto'o... I repeat: we have clear ideas." It does not seem that way to those who are talking, and perhaps for this reason Gasperini is underlining it with his red pen – actually a blue and black one.
The coach continued: "Sneijder is a champion with so much quality, but Inter's real value is the group; the group to which a player with more quality can give that extra leap in quality. Is Eto'o still an Inter player? Yes, he is still an Inter player."
Finally, leaving the subject of sports gossip and returning to the pitch, Gasperini commented on the 'new role' of Javier Zanetti, who played on the line of three defenders (on the left of centre), one of the many roles that the wild card captain has filled: "The choice of the role for our captain came out of a necessity after Chivu's injury, but he can play in this position. It's an extra option."
