Scholes ready to save United

PAUL SCHOLES is ready to answer an SOS from Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson and come out of retirement.

SunSport revealed last month that his former United team-mates had been trying to encourage the 37-year-old midfielder to help them out of their injury crisis.
The Red Devils legend at first ignored their pleas. But increasingly Scholes has been having a rethink and will now answer a call from the boss if it comes in the second half of the season.
Fergie was convinced at the end of last season that Scholes had at least another year left in him — just like 38-year-old veteran Ryan Giggs.
But the player was happy to bow out at the end of last season with the club winning a record 19th title.
However, as soon as this season started, he was questioning his own decision and badly missed training and playing.
Scholes is still fit enough to play as he trains with the reserves every day at Carrington as well as coaching them.
While Scholes is reluctant to go to Fergie directly to offer his services, he will now help out if called upon.
Ferguson has had to mix and match his midfield and defence all season due to injuries.
One-club man Scholes joined United as a 14-year-old and went on to make nearly 700 appearances, scoring 150 goals.
