Cork City snap up Daryl Horgan from Sligo

Daryl Horgan Signs for City!

Daryl Signs
Cork City Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Daryl Horgan from Sligo Rovers on a two year contract.
The winger joined City on loan from Sligo in July, making his debut against his former club Salthill Devon at Turner’s Cross. He was an impressive performer for the remainder of the season, scoring seven league goals in thirteen appearances.
Cork City manager Tommy Dunne told CorkCityFC.net that he was delighted to have signed 19 year old: “It’s no secret that we have wanted to sign Daryl for quite some time now. We wanted to sign him from Salthill, before Sligo signed him, but we are delighted now to have signed him and have him on board. While his experience of Premier Division last season was quite brief, he does have Premier Division experience and that will benefit him.”
“I know he enjoyed his time here last season, and he is very happy to have joined the club. He is an exciting young player, which is exactly the sort of player we want to have here at the club as we work to build on last season and continue to progress, and I believe Daryl can be an integral part of the future of this club.”
Speaking shortly after signing for the club at Bishopstown this lunchtime, Horgan said: “I’m delighted to have signed. I really enjoyed my time with Cork City last season, and I’m looking forward to pushing on next season. There is a step-up in the level in the Premier Division, but from what I saw of both divisions last season, I believe that the top five teams in the First Division would be well capable of competing in the Premier. I really enjoyed working with Tommy last season, we had a brilliant end to the season and I hope we can continue that into next season
