Young eyeing on a happy return to Villa

Young eyes winning return

Ashley Young is looking forward to returning to Villa Park on Saturday, but says he’ll enjoy the day even more should United bag three points in Birmingham.

Young, 25, spent four-and-a-half years at Aston Villa, scoring 39 times in 193 appearances before signing for United this summer.

“I’m excited about going back,” he said. “I have very happy memories of my time there and hopefully I’ll get a warm reception. But I’m just concentrating on going there and doing well.

“I’ve still got friends there who I speak to pretty much every week so it will be nice to go back there and see them. It will be even nicer if we come back winning. If we apply ourselves in the right way I’m sure we’ll get the three points.”

The Reds haven’t managed that at Villa Park, however, since 2007, with the last three visits ending in draws (0-0, 1-1, 2-2). Last season, Sir Alex’s men found the fixture particularly taxing and with 10 minutes to play were trailing 2-0. Late
