Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in Lille winger Eden Hazard.

Many of Europe's elite are rumoured to be interested in the Belgian but the Red Devils boss now seems to be stepping up his pursuit.

Ferguson's recent presence at a Lille match sparked debate about who he was there to observe and his assistant has now admitted that Hazard was the point of the trip.
"The manager wanted to see [Eden] Hazard by himself. That's a sign he thinks it's an interesting player. We talked a lot about him," he told Voetbal International.
"For a club it's important that you keep refreshing your squad.
"Hazard is a special talent, but it always takes a while. As example: We've followed David de Gea for a long time before we got him.
"Ferguson wants to know the character of the player. Because of that he's going to look by himself for players. Hazard is 'the man' at Lille. Ferguson wanted to see if that had an influence on him."

Kevin Strootman is another young prospect rumoured to be on the club's radar but Meulensteen says they are unsure about the player's ability to fit into the Premier League.
"We've never discussed the name Strootman. We follow every young player with potential. That's the same for [Ajax midfielder] Christian Eriksen," he explained.
"I don't have a good sharp image of Strootman. In England some people name him the new Roy Keane.
