'Sneijder will join Manchester United this summer' - Sheringham
The ex-Red Devil believes the Dutch midfielder should switch to Old Trafford and suggests the title race is still not over with City facing a tricky test against QPR

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes Sir Alex Ferguson will resume his attempts to sign Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder in the summer transfer window.
The Dutch international was continually linked with a switch to Old Trafford before the start of the current season and the former West Ham man believes the 27-year-old is still the man needed to reinforce the Red Devils' midfield
“I think they will, without a doubt,” Sheringham told reporters. “The manager tried to sign Sneijder last year and when he likes someone he very rarely lets go of that bone and he will go back in for them.
“He did the same for a lot of players – like Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He had a broken leg when he first went in for him but he went back in for him a year later – it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes back in for Sneijder and he finally gets his man.”
United go into Sunday’s final game of the season against Sunderland needing Manchester City to slip up at home to QPR in order to have any hope of reclaiming the Premier League title.
Sheringham, who won three Premier League titles and the treble during his four-year spell at the club, has warned that Roberto Mancini’s side face a difficult task with the visit of Mark Hughes’ men.
“There is a different atmosphere in the dressing room in a final day decider,” he added.
“United have to make sure they win their game at Sunderland but the onus is on Man City.
“They have not won the league for a long time now and there will be a lot of pressure on them come Sunday afternoon and QPR have to get a point to make sure they are safe as well.
“Mark Hughes going back to Manchester City has a double effect on that and he won’t want to lose there.
“He would love to stop City winning the title without a doubt. It’s not a formality, if it gets to half-time and it’s still 0-0 then it could be a very tense second half.”
The 46-year-old also insisted that the Red Devils are not over-reliant on striker Wayne Rooney, who has scored 26 Premier League goals this season, and suggests that Dimitar Berbatov may still have a role to play at the club.“I think Wayne would like that he is being relied on and he performs when he is like that – I wouldn’t say he is being over relied on," he continued.
“It’s a strange one. He [Berbatov] could have lost confidence from not being in the Champions League final team the year before.
“It’s a big demise, he is an accomplished player and when given his chance has always done a decent job for United and Fergie’s always stated he could do a good job, so I’m surprised he has not been used a little more this year.
“They’ve both thrown it away – it just so happens it’s in Man City’s hands with a game to go. It’s been a catalogue of errors when the leading team gets in the driving seat – it’s City’s to throw away again.”
