Shinji Kagawa: Looks to be firmly on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan were notable spectators at Saturday's German Cup final.
United have been linked with Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa recently, with quotes coming out of the 23-year-old's homeland suggesting he could be about to leave Borussia Dortmund for Old Trafford.Kagawa certainly did himself no harm in front of Ferguson, scoring the opener as Dortmund cruised to victory over Bayern Munich to complete the German domestic double.
The player has opted not to sign a new contract with his current club and has said he will make a decision about his future after Saturday's game.
Ferguson's presence - less than 24 hours before his own side will try to defy the odds and retain their Premier League crown - does seem significant.
The Red Devils chief has been under pressure to bolster his midfield for some considerable time now and Kagawa would appear to be the perfect solution, having proved his worth during two outstanding seasons in the Bundesliga.
His age also fits the United profile of buying young players who are still to reach their peak.
