Rio Ferdinand has been told he has an England future - and is going to Euro 2012.
England boss Fabio Capello has telephoned Ferdinand to reassure him after leaving the Manchester United defender out of his squad for the Wembley double header.
Capello told 33-year-old Ferdinand that he still sees him as a major part of his plans for Euro 2012 and only left him out this weekend to look at younger players.
It is believed that Capello also told Ferdinand that he picked John Terry on the basis that the Chelsea defender is his captain and there was nothing personal.
