Reds X factor: Ashley Young and Tom Cleverley back to boost Manchester United

Ashley Young Manchester United are out to restore the X factor for the visit to Swansea on Saturday teatime.
Ashley Young and Tom Cleverley are set for comebacks to Sir Alex Ferguson’s senior squad for the trip to South Wales.
The pair were instrumental in the Champions' barnstorming opening to the Premier League campaign.
Young was a summer addition to the title winners' squad when he moved for £16m from Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old England winger struck up an instant impressive understanding with Wayne Rooney as United’s attack set off in blistering fashion.
Rooney bagged nine Premier League goals in the first five matches and Young scored twice in the 8-2 Old Trafford demolition of Arsenal.
United’s hopes of reviving that early entertaining impetus was hit when Young suffered a toe injury in training ahead of the Everton match at Goodison Park at the end of last month.
He has since missed three games as the Reds dug in to win back confidence after the derby disaster.
Young’s injury also meant he was unavailable for Fabio Capello’s England squad for the international friendlies against Spain last Saturday and Sweden.
But Young has now had almost three weeks recovery time from an injury that Fergie reported as not being too serious initially.
The winger has been back in training and is expected to be up for selection for the trip to Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.
Cleverley could also be back in contention.
The 22-year-old playmaker was a shining light in midfield in United’s early season form but suffered ankle ligament damage at Bolton in September.
He returned for an hour at Aldershot in the Carling Cup but his Premier League comeback last 54 minutes when he suffered another ankle problem.
But again the Reds manager’s prognosis was that it wasn’t serious and he too has had more than a fortnight to rest the injury having missed the international break as well.
The possible return of Cleverley and Young will be welcomed by United fans who are hoping to see the champion’s back in full flow.
The comebacks of that pair could be slightly offset by the fact that Danny Welbeck may be a doubt for the journey to Glamorgan.
The Mancunian striker had to pull out of the England friendly at Wembley against Sweden with a muscle strain. He suffered the injury coming on as a late sub last Saturday and was sent home.
United are assessing the problem but the 20-year-old is a doubt for the Swansea match.
