Brazil tv R7 '; is all down to pay cut in Moura deal to United

Lucas Moura Agent Scuppers United Bid An argument over Lucas Moura’s share of any transfer fee look set to scupper his move from Sao Paulo to Manchester United. As part of his contract the 19-year-old Brazilian forward is due 20 percent of any proceeds received by Sao Paulo. United made an offer last week of 33million euro (£26million) but this was turned down by the Brazilian club. Sao Paulo would have to pay Lucas 6.6million euro (just over £5million) as his share of the proceeds leaving them with 26.4million euro. They are looking for 30million euro after paying Lucas his share which means United would have to increase their bid to 37.5million euro (£29.6million), something Sir Alex Ferguson is refusing to do. Reports from Brazil claim this is set to derail the transfer with both Lucas’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, and Sao Paulo demanding that each party give up at least some of their demands. Brazilian TV network R7 claims Ribeiro is demanding that Sao Paulo yield on their insistence of a net 30million euro while Sao Paulo are insisting that Lucas gives up his 20 percent. A compromise sounds like Lucas taking a smaller amount – say 3.3million euro – which could see the deal go through, but Ribeiro is insisting that Lucas won’t be giving up any of his rights (some of which would presumably find its way into Ribeiro’s pocket) while Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvencio believes that a club capable of paying 33million euro will pay 39.5million (the extra 6.5million covering Lucas’s 20 percent plus cuts for Ribeiro and Lucas’s parents). United say they won’t pay a penny more. “This is agony for Ribeiro,” a source told R7. “He will not stop calling and runs from one side to the other.” R7 believes that if it is up to Lucas then he will give up some of his cut and the deal will go through. Only Ribeiro is standing in the way.
