Fans Vote for Young Display on Sunday

Fans salute Young display

Ashley Young recorded a landslide victory in ManUtd.com’s Man of the Match poll following the Reds’ emphatic 3-1 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The United winger crossed for Wayne Rooney to head home on the stroke of half-time before scoring a brace of goals himself with two fine strikes in the second period. Beating Spurs capped a magnificent eight days for Young, who had previously set up Ryan Giggs' dramatic winner at Norwich before netting in England’s friendly clash with the Netherlands.

A massive 56 per cent of ManUtd.com readers gave their vote to the in-form man, with his closest challenger being last weekend’s award winner David De Gea with 23 per cent.

Having missed around six weeks of the season through injury, Young is now set to play a key role in the rest of the campaign. “I'm getting back to my best,” the 26-year-old declared. “Any player is disappointed when he's injured. I've needed to get myself back fit. I'm ready to go and champing at the bit now.”

Rio Ferdinand, who took third place in our Man of the Match poll with 12 per cent, believes the return of his team-mate is a massive boost to United’s title chances.

“It's fantastic to see Ashley back," raved Rio. "It takes you a couple of games to get back into the groove. Before his injury he was flying and now it looks like he's back on form.”
