In the last couple of months, making a Premier League comeback has become the fashionable thing to do as Paul Scholes, Thierry Henry, Robbie Keane and even Landon Donovan will testify.
But it’s Manchester United making most of the headlines as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to turn towards his old favourites to lead his squad.
I'm being serious, Edwin: Ferguson was seen at pitchside with Van der Sar
First Scholes came out of retirement until the end-of-the-season, then Ryan Giggs penned a new one-year-deal.
And it seems with rookie keeper David De Gea struggling between the sticks, Fergie fancies another raid on the retirement home.
Tough start: David De Gea has had an inconsistent first year at United
Ahead of United’s last 32 Europa League tie at Ajax, Fergie was seen speaking to former Red Devils stopper Edwin van der Sar during their club’s training session at the Amsterdam Arena.
But the 21-year-old Spaniard can breathe a sigh of relief that the 41-year-old will not fill his gloves anytime soon.
The Dutchman admits he misses the game but he has ruled out returning - for now.
Don’t be surprised if he has to change his mobile number to get Fergie off his back though.
