EXCLUSIVE: Modric not signing until he knows who's boss

Luka Modric won’t sign a new deal at Tottenham – until he knows who will be boss next season.
The 26-year-old midfield star is on the wanted list of Chelsea and Manchester United.
And the Blues offered a massive £40million for the Croat last summer – a bid rejected by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. He insisted Modric was not for sale “ at any price” – and the club have been working on a new contract that would keep the player at White Hart Lane for the next six years and put him into the £140,000-a-week bracket.
Talks will intensify at the end of the month – but Modric is set to postpone his decision.
Manager Redknapp has emerged as the leading candidate for the England job that was vacated by Fabio Capello.
But, as yet, there have been no concrete developments.
The FA have said they will wait until the end of the season before making their move while both Redknapp and Tottenham insist there has been no approach about their manager.
The air of uncertainty appears to have had an impact on the team, which, until recently, seemed assured of third place and a top-four finish.
They have experienced a run of three successive Premier League defeats, a last-minute draw against Stoke and were held to a goalless draw by Chelsea yesterday.
Modric now appears to be waiting for the managerial decision before he makes his own. Any hesitation will see renewed interest from Chelsea and United.
