"It's an exciting prospect, Sunday," said Ferguson.
"I think City have done fantastically well. Had they not thrown away a 2-0 lead at Fulham, they would have been top of the league with a 100 per cent record.
"So it will be quite a game on Sunday.
"At this club we have always acceped challenges and have always done something about it.
"This situation [with City] is no different and we have to do something about it."
Ferguson said he was mulling over "a couple of positions" in terms of his team selection for Sunday, with a fully fit squad to choose from.
"We took 23 players to Romania and they've all come back fit," said Ferguson.
"We left Rio Ferdinand behind because we felt we didn't need to use him, and everyone else is fit."
