Sir Alex Ferguson believes Antonio Valencia can follow in Ryan Giggs' footsteps by transforming from a winger into a central midfielder.
Valencia has been deployed as an emergency right-back for Manchester United in recent weeks, because injuries have left Ferguson’s side short of cover there.
United legend Giggs reivented himself as a central midfielder after more than a decade terrorising defenders as a rampaging left winger.
And Ferguson, who has an array of wide players in Nani, Ashley Young and Ji-Sung Park, believes current right-winger Valencia can emulate Giggs.
