Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been handed a double boost with Nemanja Vidic and Tom Cleverley in line to return against Liverpool at the weekend.
Vidic has not played for United since limping out of the win over West Bromwich on the opening weekend of the season with a calf problem.
The central defender made his competitive comeback for Serbia on Tuesday night and missed a penalty as a 1-0 defeat in Slovenia ended hopes of reaching Euro 2012.

The match also signalled the end of Vidic's international career with the 29-year-old saying: 'It's time for a change of generations, and for some older players to say goodbye to Serbian kit.'
He added he was disappointed that he would never get to play in the European Championship and when asked if he had retired from international football, he said: 'If you want me to say that, yes.'
Vidic may want to reflect on the decision but such a move is likely to be welcomed by Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be equally thrilled with the news about Cleverley.
Spot of bother: Vidic misses a penalty for Serbia against Slovenia
The young midfielder, who has just signed a new four-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions, damaged ligaments in his foot during the 5-0 win over Bolton on September 10.
Cleverley, 22, had made a blistering start to the season before the injury halted his progress but the United medical team have been impressed by the speed of his recovery and he is in contention to feature against Kenny Dalglish's Reds.
